Overview

In Worm Arena, players use the mouse to drag around the robot and protect their pet from weepuls. This was made during a 48-hour Game Jam and the team I were 4 programmers (Jon B. Honeycutt, kevin supermarket, quinceylascheid). We split our tasks from story, UI, gameplay, art, and audio. All of us contributed to making code for our game and communicating what they do.

3D Modeling

After we decided what our game wanted to be. One of my tasks was to 3D model a list of objects. I used Blender to create the objects and asked for feedback to see if it was matching with our vision for the game.

Music

Music was the one last thing I did for Worm Arena. Since I already had experience making high energy music. My electronic style blended well with the mood of the game. The music was based on rock riffs that were recreated in Garageband.

Sound Effects

The other task that needed a lot of work was finding sounds. Since the game was going to having a cartoon feel to it, I leaned in towards the wackiness. After finding all the sound effects, I looked into my teammates code and implemented my own bit of audio programming for it to work. I communicated with them to make sure nothing broke.

Worm Arena Behind The Scenes.jpg

This was made during my school's yearly Game Jam. Our prompt was "Would You Rather" and us being all Programmers made development easier. Even though there were some rough patches, we managed to create a decent game out of it. I'm quite proud of that.
