Overview
A First-Person Rhythm Movement Shooter puts players in a dystopian future where music itself is under siege. You control a discarded janitorial robot who discovers the power of music as a weapon, using rhythm, movement, and a trusty grapple to fight back against a world dominated by spider-robots. This project was a collaborative effort in Webster University’s Fall ’25 Video Game Production class, giving me more hands-on experience in team-based development and the integration of save systems, game mechanics, sound effects, and music composing.

Midi Manager
I developed the MIDI manager to let enemies change their notes based on the song currently playing. This system adapts dynamically, adding interactivity and making gameplay feel more connected to the music.

Music
For this game, I decided to focus on writing a strong, cohesive song in my usual style rather than designing complex chord progressions for gameplay. Blending rock and synth elements was a fun challenge outside my normal workflow, and I was able to create a track that balanced both. We also brought in a trombonist to add authentic instrumentation, giving the song extra depth.

Sound Effects
For Forte, I curated and implemented a variety of sound effects to bring the game world to life. Some sounds required creative editing—like giving the spider bot a robotic feel—while others, such as the grapple, involved blending multiple unrelated sounds into a single cohesive effect. I’m particularly proud of how these efforts enhanced gameplay immersion and made the audio feel intentional and polished.
